Electrolysis Pre-Care Instructions
To ensure the best results and minimize skin irritation, please follow these pre-treatment guidelines:
Before Your Appointment:
Hydrate: Drink plenty of water the day before and day of your appointment. Well-hydrated skin responds better to treatment.
Avoid Caffeine & Alcohol: 24 hours before your appointment, reduce or avoid these as they can increase skin sensitivity.
Do Not Tweeze, Wax, or Thread: Avoid removing hair from the root for at least 2–4 weeks before treatment. Shaving is okay.
Clean Skin Only: Please arrive with the treatment area clean and free of makeup, lotion, deodorant, or oil.
Avoid Sun Exposure: No tanning or sunburn in the treatment area for at least 48 hours before your session.
Pain Sensitivity?: You may take Tylenol (acetaminophen) 30 minutes before your appointment if you are concerned about discomfort (avoid blood thinners like aspirin or ibuprofen unless medically necessary).
Medications: Inform us of any medications you’re taking, especially Accutane, antibiotics, or blood thinners.
Electrolysis Post-Care Instructions
Mild redness, swelling, or sensitivity is normal after electrolysis. These symptoms usually subside within a few hours to a day.
For the First 24–48 Hours:
Keep the Area Clean and Dry: Gently cleanse with mild soap and cool water. Pat dry—do not rub.
No Touching or Picking: Avoid touching the area with unwashed hands. Do not pick at scabs or bumps.
No Makeup, Lotion, or Deodorant: Avoid applying any products on the treated area for at least 24 hours.
No Heat Exposure: Refrain from hot showers, saunas, steam rooms, intense workouts, or sunbathing.
Apply Soothing Gel: Use aloe vera gel or witch hazel to calm the skin and reduce redness.
Avoid Friction: Wear loose-fitting clothing over the treated area to prevent irritation.
Avoid for 48–72 Hours:
Swimming pools, hot tubs, tanning beds
Harsh skincare (retinoids, scrubs, exfoliants)
Tight clothing or shaving the area
Additional Tips:
Slight scabbing or tiny white bumps are normal and part of the healing process. Do not pick!
Use broad-spectrum SPF if the area is exposed to the sun.
Continue staying hydrated and moisturize with gentle, non-comedogenic products after 48 hours.
